How do I get my hair to shine, skin to glow and lips kissably soft? Coconut Oil.

Coconut oil is the oil of-the-moment. With its multiple uses, sweet taste and yummy scent it has become a favorite in beauty and hair products alike. It contains Vitamin E, is rich in antioxidants and has high levels of Lauric Acid which helps revitalize skin and make it look younger. A jar of this miracle oil will set you back about $10 and can be used on its own or mixed with other oils and butters. Coconut oil is solid at room temperature but melts on contact with skin. It can also become liquid when heated or when stored in a warm place.

I prefer using organic, extra virgin, raw coconut oil because I don’t want to miss out on any of its benefits. Here are 5 ways you too can use coconut oil as a part of your beauty routine.

Hydrate Skin: Coconut oil can be used as body lotion straight from the jar. It is perfect to soothe dry skin and prevent age spots.

Shine Hair: If you have natural hair (4a – 4c type), you can apply coconut oil as a finishing product after your moisturizer. It will nourish your hair, seal in moisture as well as give it a healthy shine. It is also great as a pre-wash treatment to treat dandruff, restore protein in damaged hair and reduce hair loss.

Eye Makeup Remover: Most oils are great for makeup removal. Coconut oil however also helps prevent the appearance of fine lines. Just apply some to a cotton ball and swipe it over your eyes gently.

Nail Growth Treatment: Coconut oil has a plethora of nutrients for cuticle and nail health. Use it as a hand lotion for smooth hands and strong nails. It’s good for your feet too!!!

Lip Balm: Get your lips kiss ready by using a thin layer of coconut oil as your lip balm. A little bit will go a long way.
