I’m always attracted to newness in fashion, products who challenge the status quo and delight us with great design. I had the pleasure of attending PELCOR’s Spring / Summer 2016 Collection viewing at Public Factory at the Soho Grand Hotel earlier this year. There, I discovered PELCOR’s product line which includes totes, backpacks, wallets, tablet sleeves, umbrellas, clutches, sport caps, smart covers and even CORKY dog collars and leashes for your pooch. But the best thing about the genuine cork skin accessory brand is that all their pieces are created with nature in mind. In fact, PELCOR accessories are designed and sustainably manufactured in Europe, Portugal to be exact.

About PELCOR

It all began when, in 2003, the factory that had produced Champagne corks for the finest vintners in Europe for over 30 years was presented with a revolutionary new idea. Sandra Correia, granddaughter of the factory’s founder, saw the opportunity for a new line of products utilizing the same sustainable material that is harvested from Portugal’s cork oak trees every nine years. She knew that a line of beautiful fashion accessories with the smooth, leather-like texture could have an important place within the cork industry.

Over the years, the Portuguese brand has won multiple awards since and shows no signs of slowing down. Want more? Read the latest issue of PELCOR Magazine. You will never see champagne corks the same way again.

About Public Factory

Public Factory is a retail space tailored for young designers who can’t afford expensive retail rent. It is a place where they can showcase their collections quickly and hassle-free because Public Factory does not require financial background checks, liquidity, or personal guarantees. They provide designers with the sell staff, cleaning, internet, electricity, phone, maintenance, etc. The best part is that commitments are only for 3 months and new shops can be up and running within 24hrs. The Public Factory in the Soho Grand Hotel has a really artistic set up which I had fun exploring.

While I was there, I took the time to gaze upon other uber creative brands.

It’s important to note that PELCOR’s collection viewing was a true Portuguese celebration and featured products from fellow sustainable Portuguese winery José Maria da Fonseca.

Next time you are in the Soho Grand Hotel area, I recommend you visit the Public Factory space.
