As you may or may not know, I was blessed to celebrate another birthday yesterday!

Every new year of life is a gift and an opportunity to live the life you’ve always wanted. This year I thought it would be fun to do things that defy the status quo and study human behavior all the while having fun with it. So for the next 30 days I will do 3 unusual things and document my experience.

1. Smile at every stranger I come cross

In a southern state like Louisiana exchanging smiles with strangers is normal but in the North East people tend to keep to themselves and be suspicious of one another. They call it street smart… I think it’s really sad. So for the next 30 days, I will look every person dead in the eyes and smile. Let’s see what happens!

2. Show gratitude to my favorites shops
Entrepreneurship is one of the most isolating, stressful and demanding occupations out there. Customers continually ask for more all the while always wanting to pay less. They love to complain and more-often-than-not they take the mantra “the customer is always right” to the next level. So for the next 30 days I will spread love by showing appreciation for the shop owners and managers of the establishments I frequent. Will this take time out of my already busy day? Surely it will. But letting someone know that they’re doing a good job, showing them genuine appreciation just might be the one thing that keeps them going and stops them from quitting.

3. Ask this question to one person every day:
“If you knew you couldn’t fail what would you do?”
This last one is my favorite because it’s thought provoking. Anyone who knows me well knows that I welcome a good, heartfelt conversation about hopes and dreams any day. I also believe that to reach your goals and live the life you want, you have to take risks and do things in spite of fear.  With this question I hope to spark in the minds of people the thought that: perhaps they should pursue that which has been put on hold because of fear.

Hope you enjoy my experiment and choose to start one of your own!
