Porter Grey Make up

Porter Grey’s Fall/Winter 2012 collection is all about empowered women conquering new territory.  Frontier-inspired prints in well-structured silhouettes are complemented by a fresh, feminine beauty defined by translucent skin, windblown cheeks, a structured lash line, and an undressed, flushed lip.  We talked to the lead makeup artist Jose Rivera from Sephora PRO Beauty Team.

B.W.A.C.: So is this your first time doing the makeup for Porter Grey?
Jose:  This is actually our (team) second time and for me it’s such a pleasure because their aesthetic mirrors my aesthetic as an artist: very fresh, very modern, fluid if you will. The collection this season is stunning.

There are 3 elements to the makeup:

#1 Luminous gorgeous skin, very fresh looking accomplished by Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer and Smashbox halo mineral powder. Very easy for women to get this look at home.

#2 Really rich saturated lash line we call a tight line, something that Mercier coined herself. You accomplish this by coloring in between the lashes. Take your finger pressing at the lash line and tickling the lashes with a pencil. It creates this illusion that the lash line is much richer. And then go back over it with a black eyeshadow.

#3 A windblown cheek with peach and rose blush from Lorac. We took a blush brush from the ear to the nose and went back and forth so the color looks like you are windblown, not too structured.

B.W.A.C.: What would be the one thing that women at home could take away from this look that would be easy for them to copy?
Jose: The one thing is the skin, that is the biggest feature. Use the tinted moisturizer to even out the skin then buff the skin with a round brush using a mineral powder like Smashbox Halo.

When asked what his number one tip for beauty was he said: “Smile, it’s the best cosmetic. So grin and wear it!!”

Overall the Porter Grey look is really easy to achieve at home. We would love to see how you imitated this frontier feminine look. So post or email us pics and videos of how you achieved this look.  You can also leave your comments below.  Jose and his team also did looks for Dennis Basso, Catherine Malandrino, Charlotte Ronson just to name a few. These designers were also showing at the tents at Lincoln Center.
