“April showers bring May flowers” If the saying is true, we can expect beautiful weather and fashion this month. For this reason, we are dedicating our May issue to the most beautiful creation of all – and I know most men will agree with me on this one – the woman. At the culmination of all his work God created Eve: comforting, gentle, delicate and yet undeniably strong and powerful. Think about how the atmosphere changes as soon as a woman enters a room or how an unattractive living space becomes ornate and warm once a woman adds her touch to it. And that’s not all. Girl power goes beyond interiors. In the outside world, women are also leaving their mark, namely in business, science, entertainment and even in the highest office in the United States: the White House. Michele Obama personifies this marriage of gentleness and strength perfectly. Her determination and drive are matched by her femininity and impeccable style. Speaking of style, the fashion industry is also an industry where women young and old are major players in determining who, where, when and what we will wear each season.

Another field where women’s presence is strongly felt is philanthropy. All the influential women we have interviewed thus far, namely Pamella Roland, Maria Menounos, and Whitney Port all have one thing in common besides a love for fashion: a serious passion for a cause that is dear to their heart. These are successful women in fashion and media who have chosen to use their influence to make the world a better place. From Haiti’s reconstruction to seeing ill children smile, they are determined about giving back.  We cannot wait to share their stories with you this month.

Celebrating women without talking about fashion and beauty would simply feel incomplete. Especially, since one of the best things about being a woman is the wide variety of shoes, dresses, necklaces, make up, etc that are at our disposal. There are so many designers and spring trends to choose from this month, we would not want you to miss out.  Stay connected with F.W.A.C. and see what our stylist and I have in store for you. Who doesn’t like to play dress up, right?

Also in May, we are debuting a really special segment called: skin struggles. This segment is dedicated to treating skin issues caused by diseases like Lupus, Rosacea, Psoriasis and overcoming the negative effects they can have on one’s self-esteem. We invite you to embark on this journey with our beauty editor, Chinoyelum Osuji affectionately known as Nono, who was diagnosed with Lupus 2 years ago. Her story is one of triumph and is sure to inspire. She also reveals how she restored her ravaged skin to its current flawless appearance.  Find out her secrets and get the best looking skin you’ve ever had.

We look forward to spending the next 31 days showing you that Bey was right when she sang: “Who runs the world? GIRLS!!!”

Love,

Kathleen Elie
