The Melissa Nepton show was definitely a great way to start our Montreal Fashion Week coverage. As per usual we had full backstage access and can’t wait to give you the scoop. [See backstage pictures on our Facebook Page]

First of all, something needs to be said about Nepton’s impeccable work ethic. She could be seen backstage discussing hair details with the head hairstylist, attentively inspecting each model’s makeup all the while being 9 months pregnant. Did I mention that the day of the show was her due date? Yes that’s right!

Fortunately for us her water did not break but Nepton definitely delivered! Texture was all over the runway: tweed, fur, leather, you name it she used it… and well. We loved her mix media construction and take on equestrian style which the collection was inspired by.  She also sent fur accessories, striped boyfriend shirts, fur capes, and sheer tunics with bold stripes down the runway. A tweed and leather paneled blazer with matching skinny trousers stole the show in my opinion. I would wear it any day!

The equestrian inspiration transpired throughout the entire show from the clothing to the makeup to the show opening to the sound of galloping horses. Some might find this to be cheesy but we loved it. We also couldn’t get over the music selection. The head pumping music by Jimmie “Bo” Home had a strong baseline and electronic accents fit to make Will. I. Am. proud. We could barely stay in our seats.

In our opinion Nepton sang all the right tunes and delivered a stellar Fall 2013 collection.
