“When I think of the Ashtiani woman I see a celebrity. My muse for this season was Mira Duma. I love her style, it’s very classic and yet modern with an edge.” – Golnaz Ashtiani

The first characteristics that came to mind when I saw the FALL 2013 ASHTIANI fashion show was definitely “modern with a futuristic edge”. The  designer, Golnaz Ashtiani, showcased garments with many calculated cut-outs and inserts along with ultra flattering silhouettes. Ahstiani also used a lot of texture in her collection: sheer, leather, pleats, brocade and fur paired with a rather simplistic color story: navy, burgundy, taupe and ivory with pops of yellow and sage.  “I like using modern cut-outs, different fabrics, different panels, and sort of playing around with the colors.” said the designer during our one-on-one interview [See photos].

Created in 2011, Ashtiani is already an award winning fashion label which has received many accolades on both sides of the Atlantic ocean and it’s only the beginning.

Her advice for aspiring designers: “follow your heart, and don’t be scared of being too experimental.”
