Hello loves,

We are back with another Natural Hair Tips post just in time for the hot summer months. Last week, Keina Morgan gave you 5 Summer Tips for Transitioners. This time, she is focusing on “relaxer – free” natural hair.

Let’s get right into it!

1. FIGHT HUMIDITY AND FRIZZ

When your hair gets too dry it becomes frizzy. Try fighting frizz by using a leave-in conditioner daily and finishing with a natural oil on top. This will work as a sealant to lock the moisture in.

2. PROTECT YOUR HAIR FROM CHLORINE

We all go swimming in the summer and must protect our hair from the chlorine by using a thick wash-out conditioner or a natural oil like castor oil. Always make sure to clarify your hair once out of the pool or beach water. Then rehydrate your hair with a sulfate-free cleanser following up with a conditioner.

3. DRINK A LOT OF WATER

Believe it or not, your hair is made of 10% water. So if we are dehydrated our hair will suffer from dehydration as well. Drink up, it’s good for you and your hair!

4. PROTECT YOUR HAIR FROM THE SUN

Ever wonder why your hair gets lighter in the summer? It’s because the suns ultraviolet rays cause an effect on our hair. Try using a heat protectant spray or lotion to help combat the sun’s damage.

5. TRY A COOL WATER RINSE

If you are trying to fight frizz, a great way to get smooth and shiny natural looking hair is to use a cool water rinse after your wash-out  conditioner.

LET’S DISCUSS: Which of these tips did you find most helpful and want to try?
