BODYBAG by Jude Fashion Show. Our view from the Casino de Montreal media lounge.

And we are off! The Festival Mode & Design started with a bang yesterday with music, fashion shows and pop-up shopping to the delight of the crowd. The FDM has been in existence for over 10 years and it keeps getting better year after year.  This year the festival is presided by world-renowned artist Jean-Charles De Castelbajac which brings a certain edge to the event.

Last night, he presented a collection of fun comic art dresses. The models stumped the catwalk to electrifying music while De Castelbajac created live art as a backdrop to the show! It was a sight to see. The performance was a bit long but the art and fashion were spot on. I would definitely wear any of the styles minus the make up and hair of course!

Not a fan of extreme fashion? That’s all right. There were other happenings earlier in the day such as a fashion show by BODYBAG by Jude, a DJ set by Shaydakiss, pop-up shops by local designers and more. There was a little something to please everyone.

There was even an event for the conscious + chic chick in me! The “Course à Talons Hauts”, which is a high-heeled race, took place at 12:30pm. Even the scorching heat didn’t deter participants from running and supporting a good cause. All the proceeds of the race benefitted the Chainon, a housing center for single women and children in need. To celebrate the Chainon’s 80th anniversary, the FDM will be presenting a 100% vintage fashion show styled by YSO tonight and I will be there! Hope to see you too!

Stay Conscious + Chic!
