World Master Card Fashion Week really took off on day two. Seven designers presented their collections at David Pecaut Square. Here is my show by show rundown.
THE DESIGNERS: HD Homme, Thomas Bà lint, Laura Siegel, Mercedes Benz Start Up Presents: Malorie Urbanovitch and Matière Noire, Melissa Nepton and David Dixon.
HD HOMME
Hussein Dhalla created HD Homme out of a desire to customize clothing and accessories to fit his own taste and level of sophistication. This season, HD Homme presented perfectly tailored suits in printed textiles and solids alike. The self-taught designer who is known for his unique custom and ready to wear menswear did not disappoint. Well done.
THOMAS BÀLINT
Underground designer Thomas BÃ lint presented a subdued collection as it is his custom. He was inspired by his grandparents who were tailors in Budapest. He reinvented their designs for today’s modern man:Â dark separates and neutral over coats.
LAURA SIEGEL
Laura Siegel, best known for her laid-back style, presented a collection of separates which she accessorized with the coolest fedora hats. She used tie dye prints again for fall – you may remember the tie dye dresses and skirts from Spring / Summer 2014. She paired the printed pieces with solid separates in soft fabrics. The young designer started her presentation with a video in which she expressed her desire to see and make fashion fair for all the communities involved. This show was a standout for me because it was so conscious & chic.
MERCEDES BENZ START UP PRESENTS: MALORIE URBANOVITCH
Mercedes Benz held a fashion competition where designers were given the opportunity to show at Toronto Fashion Week and get the support needed to bring an endeavor of this magnitude to fruition. Malorie Urbanovitch was one of the two winners of the contest. For her debut collection she focused on comfortable, winter-friendly textures in 80’s and 90’s silhouettes. MERCEDES BENZ START UP PRESENTS: MATIÈRE NOIRE
The second winner is not stranger to Fashion With A Conscience. We first met Céline Raizonville at Montreal Fashion Week two seasons ago. She is the designer of Matière Noire, a ready-to-wear womenswear brand with a unique take on clothing. For Fall / Winter 2014,  Raizonville introduced a native american inspired pattern in a print and embroidery as well as handmade leather details. Stay tuned for my interview with her.
MELISSA NEPTON
Melissa Nepton‘s style can be summarized in three words: cool, sporty and chic! For Fall/ Winter 2014, Nepton sent down the runway an assortment of tunics, a-line skirts and fitted dresses perfect for the urban career woman. She also played around with different shapes and brought back the slouchy trousers we love. Stay tuned for my interview with her.
DAVID DIXON
David Dixon came on to my radar at World Master Card Fashion Week last season where he presented a collection of exquisite evening wear. Late last year, Kleinfeld Hudson’s Bay Canada asked David Dixon to design a bridal collection which he presented to us yesterday.  The collection included white wedding dresses, soft pink light-weight gowns and a floor grazing high-low top that was to die for.
