Having a sustainable lifestyle means youโ€™ve made changes in your habits to reduce the impact your daily activities have on the environment.

Right?

Well, that’s not all…

Living a zero-waste life is not all about frugality. It can also be a lot of fun! (And it should be)

That’s why we compiled multiple reasons to live a sustainable & zero-waste lifestyle.

Here’s the best part…

๐ŸŽ We have a FREE gift for you at the end! ๐ŸŽ

1. Eco-friendly = Wallet-friendly!

Cutting down on wasted energy can also mean cutting down on your bills.

It can simply be done by closing lights when there’s nobody in a room and by using cold water for your washing machine.

By conserving energy you will save money on electric bills, transportation and water consumption.

Also, buying reusable items like reusable straws, beeswax food wrap and many more is as good for your wallet as it is for the environment because you won’t need to buy disposable items over and over again.

Speaking of money, did you know that living sustainably can literally make you money?

2. Freshwater Preservation

Why water?

Well, clean running water is often taken for granted.

It’s, in our opinion, one of the most precious natural resources on earth.

Imagine what your life would be without clean freshwater.

Here’s a couple of stats about freshwater to show you how much it’s precious:

About 70 percent of the earth is water, but only 2.5 percent of that is freshwater. Of the freshwater, 68.9 percent is in the form of glaciers and snow cover, 30.8 percent is groundwater, and about 0.3 percent is in lakes and rivers. – saferwater.org

By having a conscious consumption and reducing water wastage in your daily activities, like taking short showers, you help guarantee access to safe drinking water in the future.

There is a famous quote that illustrates this incredibly well:

“We did not inherit the world from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.”

How powerful and meaningful is that?

3. Itโ€™s good for your health

Reusable products, such as bamboo and glass are better for your health than plastic.

This especially applies to food containers and bottles.

Likewise, eating organic food is healthier because organic fruits and vegetables donโ€™t have traces of pesticides which in the long term is better for your overall health. ๐ŸŒฑ

By eating local and organic, you are directly encouraging farmers and growers who have sustainable practices.

By the way!

Did you know that most of the pollution caused by food production comes from long distances between farms and consumers?

To be more specific, it’s all the energy needed for transportation.

That’s why buying locally is better for the environment than you think.

Your small choices go a long way. More than you think.

Also, sustainable commuting like walking or biking, is beneficial for your health on top of being eco-friendly. ๐Ÿšฒ ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ

4. You Can Connect With a Community

Connecting with a like-minded community and sharing the same passion for the environment and eco-friendly lifestyle will always feel incredible.

Youโ€™ll meet new people while buying locally produced goods, participating in community projects and using public transportation.

It’s also a great opportunity to learn new ways to live more sustainably.

5. Less waste in the environment

Ok!

This one is no surprise. (I really hope)

Using recycled and second-hand products is a great way to give a second chance to thingS that would otherwise end up in the garbage.

Also, by reducing the amount of plastic you use, you wonโ€™t contribute to the plastic pollution that is currently destroying our planet.

One of the best ways to do so is to use reusable products instead of disposable ones.

6. You will reduce your carbon footprint

By changing your habits of transportation, energy consumption or diet, you will almost instantly reduce the amount of greenhouse gases you produce in your daily activities and your environmental footprint.

Reducing greenhouse gas production directly affects global warming. It’s a situation that we should all be preoccupied with.

More than that, we should all be taking action.

To conclude, I would like to leave you with this beautiful and meaningful quote.

“We did not inherit the world from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.”

Now, what an amazing gift we were supposed to give you?
