Since 2020, La R\u00e9union has been a trailblazer in the sustainable fashion movement. Nsikak sources the textiles locally in NYC from other fashion designers, and special textiles from around the world through vintage sellers, antique markets and estate sales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This collection carries influences of my parent\u2019s lives in post colonial Africa and the ways they reclaimed European styles and adapted them to create a series of uniforms for work, school, leisure, and play.”<\/em> said Nsikak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the presentation, I had the opportunity to try on any pieces from the FW23 and SS24 collections that I wanted. I settled on three fabulous dresses. Each told a unique story, crafted with impeccable attention to detail and a sprinkle of magic. As I slipped into each one, I felt like I was transported to a different time and place, embracing the creativity and grace that La Reunion is known for. I felt so beautiful in each unique frock. La Reunion\u2019s dresses didn\u2019t just fit my body; they wrapped around my soul, making me feel like the protagonist of my own story. It was giving main character energy! It was more than just trying on dresses; it was an immersive experience that spoke volumes about La Reunion\u2019s dedication to craftsmanship and innovation. In those moments, I couldn\u2019t help but marvel at how fashion has the ability to transform not just the way we look, but how we feel inside. La Reunion\u2019s creations truly embodied the essence of NYFW \u2013 a celebration of individuality, creativity, and the boundless possibilities of style. I left the presentation that day with a heart full of gratitude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
