\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Garbage in, garbage out.\u00e2\u20ac\u0153 <\/i>We\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve all heard this expression, often used in reference to food but its veracity goes far beyond that. Whether we want to admit it or not we are highly influenceable beings. The music we listen to, the movies we watch and the company we keep all have the potential to change us for the better or for the worst. Since, I believe in the power of words and thoughts I compiled a short list of quotes to jumpstart our New Year and keep us focused on the important things. Repeat them daily and please share your favorites below! Sharing is caring! xo<\/p>\n

1. YOU CANNOT CHANGE WHAT YOU REFUSE TO CONFRONT.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Denial is a powerful force. And like in Alcoholics Anonymous’ 12 steps program, admitting that you have a problem is the first step to overcoming anything in life. The sooner you face it, the sooner you can get over it and move forward with your life.<\/p>\n

2. SOMETIMES GOOD THINGS WILL FALL APART SO BETTER THINGS CAN FALL TOGETHER.<\/strong><\/p>\n

All loss must be seen as an opportunity. The loss of a romantic relationship can make room for a better and more fulfilling one. The loss of a job can force you to step out of your comfort zone and in turn cause amazing things to take place in your life. You just never know. Look for a sliver lining in situation.<\/p>\n

3. LIFE IS 10% OF WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU AND 90% OF HOW YOU REACT TO IT.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I could not have included more truer statement in this list. Faced with similar circumstances people will either crumble under the pressure or rise to the occasion and use their misfortune as a driving force. Think of Iyanla Vanzant who has buried her daughter, two siblings and parents. Yet she is using those difficult experiences to help others overcome their loss and all kinds of challenges.<\/p>\n

4. GIVING UP DOESN\u00e2\u20ac\u2122T ALWAYS MEAN YOU\u00e2\u20ac\u2122RE WEAK, SOMETIMES IT MEANS YOU ARE STRONG ENOUGH AND SMART ENOUGH TO LET GO AND MOVE ON.<\/strong><\/p>\n

5. NEVER DO SOMETHING PERMANENTLY FOOLISH JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE TEMPORARILY UPSET.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Emotions can be deceiving and cause you to do things you would never do otherwise. And even though anger can get the best of all of us some consequences simply can’t be undone. So think before you jump to conclusions, speak or act because you might regret it. Decide\u00c2\u00a0now to avoid such embarrassing situations by walking away and addressing the issue later when you have a more leveled head.<\/p>\n

6. YOU CAN LEARN GREAT THINGS FROM YOUR MISTAKES WHEN YOU AREN\u00e2\u20ac\u2122T BUSY DENYING THEM.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Like I said earlier in the post, denial is a powerful force. It’s a commonly used defense mechanism used to protect oneself from feeling like a failure. But it’s also a sign of immaturity. You need to get to the place where you are confident enough to admit when you are wrong, make amends and change if necessary.<\/p>\n

7. IN LIFE IF YOU DON\u00e2\u20ac\u2122T RISK ANYTHING, YOU RISK EVERYTHING.<\/strong><\/p>\n

To achieve your best life you have to be willing to take risks and step outside of your com fort zone. Great things can take place when you live your life with a sense of expectancy. Playing it safe in life just doesn’t benefit you.<\/p>\n
