I am on the move again today and I am blogging from the WordPress app for the first time. Since, I’m traveling with limited access to WiFi, at the exception of my phone, I thought I’d give it a try. Fyi, I scheduled another post ahead of time for today but I felt inspired to share this with you instead.
Choosing to write a brand new post today is a bit crazy, in light of the week I had. Believe me, if I told you everything I did you would be exhausted just reading about it but there’s something about traveling that always gets my creative juices flowing.
Whenever I travel, I take my productivity to the next level. While most spend this time idle, I maximize and leverage it to my advantage. Uninterrupted hours in a moving vehicle or in the air? That’s a rare gift!
This is how I make the most of my time whether I’m in a car, train, taxi, airport or plane.

1. Preparation
Prior to traveling, I make a list of all the things I could potentially do while on my way to my final destination. I categorize them based on whether I’ll be waiting in line, sitting down or in a moving vehicle. Then, I prioritize each task within each category, thus creating a to-do list for each situation.
2. Downloads
This could be included in the preparation step but since it can make or break your results, I want to highlight it. I don’t rely on airport or in-flight WiFi. Why? Because they are unreliable. I unfortunately had to learn this from experience. Now, I take the time to download everything I need from the internet prior to leaving my place. This includes research I’m going to need to write blogs or photos I want to edit. I also make sure my email is synched so I can draft email responses to send once I land. I avoid using my phone as a hotspot to preserve the battery.
3. Charge up
This next step is self-explanatory. I charge everything before I go: laptop, phone and batteries. I’m also intentional about charging at the airport before boarding the plane. If I’m traveling by land, I bring a multi usb / outlet car charger.

4. Intention
It’s so easy to get wrapped up in “busy work” when going through the motions of life. Distractions, demands and obligations can fill up our time if we are not careful. Not so, when I travel. I make it my alone time, time where I can accomplish important goals that matter to me. At the top of the list are brand development, planning, content creation and reading.
5. Smooth landing

This is a really important step. Whenever possible, I avoid booking flights that will disrupt my sleeping schedule. I stay away from redeye flights as well as flights that take off before 7am or land after 10pm. My goal is to continue living as though nothing happened once I reach my destination. I find that keeping my mind engaged and staying on the move prevents me from feeling tired or wanting to veg in the middle of the day.

I hope my productivity travel tips are helpful to you. If you implement any of these let me know on social media Instagram / Facebook / Twitter / Pinterest
